Early history of Faldu, as written down in the library of Gahlen

My name is Faldu. I come from a little feline village in the jungle. It was a rather peaceful life, the usual things you can expect in a feline community - hunting, fishing, and a lot of naps. Though my parents wanted me to be a fisherman, I spent a lot of time studying nature with it's wonderful creatures and phenomenas, and also listening to various lores about our kin from the elders. I often visited the old druidess who lived in our community and heard a lot about Ateraan and her circles and cycles, the mystery of balance and the various creatures, natural and unnatural, that roam our world. However, this simple but peaceful life was disturbed when the loggers came. People from the big city, humans and nykans most of them, also some trolahks carrying big axes. They didn't care much about our forest which gave us food and shelter, and they cared even less for us. They started cutting down the trees, leaving large barren spots in the places I loved so much before. They disrespected our culture, trying their axes on the wooden statues of our matriarchs, cutting down the trees even in our holy groves. And things went even worse for our people - our hunters, now not able anymore to get food for their families, were forced to work for the loggers. They were paid just enough to keep them from starving - they were not much more than slaves. Our numbers were too low to fight the, strangers, and more and more of our people decided to abandon the village and find their luck elsewhere. So did I. But where should I go? Then, some weeks ago, a strange feline man came to our city, wearing an old robe and an ankh around his neck. He stayed as a guest of our druidess, he apparently knew her from past days.He didn't tell us his name, people called him Master Snow Paws because of the white color of his paws and his otherwise black fur. I was curious about the plants he created with some sort of magic, he really seemed to have a big affection to catnip. We started to talk, and his wisdom about nature, the elements, the balance in all things really impressed me. He said the only way we can save our planet is if we teach people to act responsible with our mother Ateraan. He told me of the city he came from, Gahlen, and the guild of druids he had joined. He told be stories about big battles he had participated against unnatural creatures, and the danger that comes from weakening our planet and disturbing the balance. I took the decision to leave home and visit this town, knowing that there is no future for me in my hometown besides slavery, to gain some knowledge about nature, to help my people maybe.
